Most of your limiting beliefs about money, self and success were learned at an early age.  They are powerful and influence your financial behavior on an unconscious level. You unconsciously communicate these beliefs with your everyday conversation.

There are the guilt and shame statements:

  • I am not doing it just for the money.
  • I would do this even if I was not being paid.

From these statements one could infer – that a person who does something for free is better person than someone who does it for money. Most people who use these statements are saying “money is important to me, please don’t think I’m bad person because of it.”

There are the lack statements:

  • I can’t afford it.
  • Money does not grow on trees.
  • It’s too expensive.

What you focus on expands

It is important to make empowering decisions with your money, however, if your conversation about money is more about lack than abundance – then you will continue to live in lack.

There are the money is evil statements:

  • Money is the root of all evil.
  • Rich people are snobs.
  • Corporations are greedy.

Logic says money is not evil but logic is over ridden by your unconscious beliefs. Mother Teresa has show that money is not evil. She collected millions of dollars through her charity organization to help the people of Calcutta.

Limiting beliefs affect financial health at all income levels.

I had a client who made $30.000 per year and she lived as if she earned $50,000. I had another client who made a six figure income and he lived as if he made more. My daughter has a friend who had a hefty trust account – she was riddled with guilt – she would ask in despair “why should I have so much, when there are so many going without?”

Even though your limiting beliefs are magnetic – you can change them.

Change starts with awareness.

What are your limiting beliefs?  Do you identify with any of these?

  • You feel uncomfortable with the thought of having extra cash.
  • It’s not possible to be rich and kind.
  • The rich takes advantage of the poor.
  • I am not doing it for the money.
  • They are in it just for the money.
  • I never have enough money.
  • I am broke.
  • You have an aversion to being paid for your art/service/product.
  • Rich people are evil/bad/snobs.
  • I must work hard for my money.
  • Money does not buy happiness.
  • Money does not grow on trees.
  • The higher you go the harder you fall,
  • How can they afford that?
  • I can barely make ends meet.
  • Money is hard to come by.

Change your thoughts and transform your life.

Your thoughts become your reality – if you believe that you are not worthy of  abundance – abundance will elude you. If you think rich people are evil – not wanting to be evil – you will unconsciously repel money.

Grab a journal, close your eyes, think of all the negative sayings you’ve heard about money and write them down. Go way back to when you were child.

Now let’s take these beliefs and replace them with empowering beliefs e. g.

Limiting Beliefs

  • I can’t afford it.
  • Money is hard to come by.
  • Money doesn’t grow on trees.
  • Rich people are evil.
  • You can’t take it with you.

Empowering beliefs

  • I will create an abundant life style.
  • I open myself to endless opportunities.
  • I am a money magnet.
  • Rich people do charitable giving.
  • I will leave a legacy of philanthropy.

Identifying your unconscious beliefs about money and taking action to bring them in alignment with your conscious desires – will unblock your financial flow.

Here are some other tools to help you eliminate your limiting beliefs:

Emotional Freedom Technique (EFT) – Is a controversial, alternative therapy that manipulates the body’s energy field by taping on acupuncture points.

Neuro Linguistic Programming (NLP) – Removes limiting beliefs through your subjective experience of the mind, language patterns and the programming that organizes your perceptions and thoughts.

Hypnosis – Opens the doorway between your conscious and subconscious mind. It facilitates change at its roots in the subconscious mind.

Get comfortable with your money:

  • Money is no big deal.
  • Money is energy it has to leave to make room for more.
  • Money is just a tool.
  • The more money you have – the more you have to give.

Money serves you – not the other way around.

To your financial abundance!
