Was your 2011 (or the year you’re reading this post) more about Goal Setting instead of Goal Achieving?

If you don’t know where you are going, you will probably end up somewhere else.  ~Lawrence J. Peter

If you have to ponder, it may be a good time to get out your 2011 GOAL list.  How many of your goals did you accomplish? Did you have any goals or did you live your life like a feather in the wind? Was your 2011 more about reacting to life instead of creating it?

Living a life that is all about GOALS is insanity BUT this applies to anything you overdo. When you make your life all about setting and achieving  goals, then what Leo Babatusa and Steve Errey have to say about goals may apply to you.

I believe that goal setting and achieving is important for your success personally and professionally. But, keep in mind that you create the goals they don’t create you.

For example: I have a goal to do a blog post each week. Sometimes it happens and sometimes it doesn’t. The goal is an anchor to keep me focused on getting it done.

Yesterday evening, Saturday, December 17, 2011, was my day to do this post but I had an opportunity to spend the day with my grand daughter and her baby brother, the decision was easy. I spent the day with the little darlings and we had a blast. We went shopping. They helped me decorate the Christmas tree. We played and laughed. An experience like this is priceless!

It’s the next day, Sunday, 9 a. m. – they’re sleeping and I’m finishing my post.

Now back to the topic of  Goal setting and achieving. You’ve got to be  fired-up to achieve your goals, if you’re not,  you could remain stuck in the goal setting phase.

How to go from Goal Setting to Goal Achieving

Try this formula and let me know if it helps you to get fired up to go from goal setting to goal achieving.

Think of your G.O.A.L. as a

1.  Goldmine: A goldmine is a source of wealth.

Your goal is the goldmine that will bring you wealth in all areas of your life.

What ever you desire your Goalmines are treasure troves of endless possibilities. You’ll never run out of GOAL NUGGETS.

To get to your nuggets, you have to be willing to:

2.  Organize

And prioritize your goal achieving activities. To enjoy the goal achieving process: leave room for family, friends, the unexpected AND take

3.  Action: A goal without action is a fantasy.

Taking action doesn’t mean you have to take giant steps. It’s  OK to take baby steps or something in between. What’s important is that you’re fired-up to take consistent, persistent action to achieve your goal.

A goal in and of itself will not validate who you are but you can treat them as the

4.  Life Boat that’s going to get you from:

  1. Point A to point B
  2. Start-up to growth
  3. Lack to abundance
  4. Feelings of despair to confidence
  5. Procrastination to persistence
  6. Low self-esteem to valuing yourself
  7. Unhappiness to joy
  8. Limiting beliefs to empowering beliefs
  9. I can’t to yes I can AND

From GOAL setting to Goal achieving.
