5 Humorous, Funny Quotes and Their Opposite Serious Meanings

The Law of Polarity, one of the 7 Spiritual Laws, states that everything has its opposite. Keeping that in mind, I decided to find a few humorous images and add the opposite serious side as a post for the Ultimate Blog Challenge.

Does this tickle your funny bone? It did mine.

On the serious side

At the end of your life, you will never regret not having passed one more test, not winning one more verdict, or not closing one more deal. You will regret time not spent with a husband, a friend, a child, or a parent. ~ Barbara Bush

As a busy entrepreneur it can be difficult to make time to spend with family and friends or even to pamper yourself. Even with a busy schedule, it’s important, on a consistent basis, to free your mind as if you have nothing to do and spend time with yourself and the important people in your life.

One can’t help but be amused  by the  play on the words “exit strategy.”

On the serious side

exit strategy: a plan that maximizes profits when liquidating investments or a business

It’s important to have an exist strategy for your business. However, most entrepreneurs have not factored this into their formula for a successful business.

During a free consultation with a potential client, when the subject of an exit strategy came about, she said “exit strategy, what’s that?”  She has been in retail for 16 years.

I must confess, up until a couple of years go, I wasn’t aware of the importance of an exit strategy either. The importance was brought to my attention in 2010, when I attended The Winner’s Summit Conference & Expo in Baltimore Maryland. At this event, I met Kathryn Freeland. Kathryn Freeland left Corporate America to start her own business. 11 years later, she sold it for 30 million dollars.

It was Kathryn who brought the importance of having an exit strategy to my attention. She said that from day one of starting her business, she had already planned an exit strategy. Like my potential client, I thought “exit strategy, what’s that?” Lesson Learned!

What about you? Do you have an exit strategy?

This made me smile especially these words “days will attack you at the same time.”  I visualized being attacked from all sides by a bunch of flying objects:-)

It’s not whether you get knocked down, it’s whether you get up. ~ Vince Lombardi

Even when you follow the 10 commandments for a successful life, there will be days that the unforeseen and the unwanted will happen. What will separate you from those who fall apart, like the bear sitting under his “umbrella,”  you will take time to pause, relax and replenish before charging ahead.

Come on, I can see you smiling. I did. This is not only funny but it’s also cerebral. If you’re a Twilight Zone fan, let your imagination soar, listen, you’ll hear Rod Serling “ladies and gentleman up ahead is a sign, the sign that you’ve been waiting for. It’s the sign for whatever you choose because you’ve entered the Twilight Zone:-)

Most people live and die with their music still un-played. They never dare to try. ~ Mary Kay Ash

Some of us have developed the negative habit of putting off until tomorrow because we’re fearful, overwhelmed, lack confidence or suffer from perfection paralysis. Make a decision to do one thing that you’ve been putting off for whatever reason. Don’t wait to get all your ducks in a row. Don’t wait for the perfect time. Don’t wait for your fear to be gone. Give yourself permission to fail and look foolish while doing it. It’s what successful people do.

This sign is the sign you’ve been waiting for to move forward.

Just do it!

If it’s a huge project and you’re overwhelmed, take baby steps. You’ll be empowered and it will become easier to begin your next project. This has been working for me in the past couple of weeks. Overwhelm was the shadow that kept following me. NO MORE!

Oh, this is so adorable and sweet. Friends, sharing and loving each other. You know they have each other’s back. It’s that last sentence that made me smile.

Don’t compromise yourself. You are all you’ve got.–Janis Joplin

Relationships are important – they should be nurtured, respected and cherished. But it’s equally important to stay true to your own values. It doesn’t matter if it’s a friend, coach, mentor or some other person you respect and admire – don’t become the cookie-cutter version of someone else. Don’t follow blindly and always, always, set personal boundaries. You’ll be glad you did.
