Do you believe the catchphrase “fake it until you make it” has any validity?  Well, research has shown that this is true, in relationship to body language and confidence.

Even though I didn’t do any research, my understanding of the subconscious mind,  and how it accepts our repetitive actions, words and thoughts as our reality, led me to accept this as truth, 20+ years ago.

In one of my findings on Ted.com, Social psychologist Amy Cuddy shows how “power posing” — standing in a posture of confidence, even when we don’t feel confident — can affect testosterone and cortisol levels in the brain, and might even have an impact on our chances for success.

Her research on body language also revealed  that we can change other people’s perceptions — and even our own body chemistry — simply by changing body positions.

Powerful stuff! Think of all you can accomplish with your body language.
