Every artist dips his brush in his own soul, and magically paints his inner being and nature into his pictures. In the Studio, if I wanted to loosen up the painting I was creating, I’d put color on it and not tell myself what to paint. I’d just set the colors loose with reckless abandonment. This brought to me the sound of the carnival that arrived every summer, the amusements at Playland, the boardwalk in Jersey, and the beach on the backend of the boardwalk, the geography of my youth and the heart and soul of the birthplace of Rock n Roll for me in the mid fifties. Let’s go back to the days of miracles. Pete Townshend of the Who said, “a rock and roll band is a crazy thing. You meet some people when you’re a kid and unlike any other occupation in the whole world, you’re stuck with them your whole life no matter who they are or what crazy things they do.” I’ve loved documenting this passion through my pen and my brushes.
