Why Curiosity Matters
One of my favorite mantras (I have many favorites) that I shared with my children growing up was about boredom. They would say, “Mom, I’m bored.” I told them that boredom was a choice—a state of mind that could change in a nanosecond through cultivating curiosity. I encouraged them to read, grab a coloring book, or go outside to play, investigate, and explore.
Being an entrepreneur and a single mom of four, I found that cultivating curiosity helped me create a lifestyle that allowed me to navigate the challenges of motherhood while staying fully involved at home and at their schools. It’s the same mindset that drives problem-solving, creativity, and growth in business—what I like to call entrepreneurial curiosity.
Curious people are never bored. In fact, research shows that cultivating curiosity is linked to greater happiness, higher achievement, and even longer lifespans. For entrepreneurs, entrepreneurial curiosity drives problem-solving, creativity, and the ability to adapt and grow a business. Nurturing this mindset helps you explore new opportunities, overcome challenges, and stay motivated on your journey.
