For the past couple of years or so, I’ve noticed a trend in the media, at the beginning of the New Year, they give statistics and reasons as to why New Year’s Resolutions fail. I’m sure this information influence some people not to make New Year’s Resolutions – are you one of them?

In a resolution study 88% of the participants didn’t achieve their goals.

Should this be a reason for YOU to stop making New Year’s Resolutions?

A resolution is a firm determination to do or not to do something and failure happens whether the resolution is made at the beginning of the year or some other time.

92% of the people who own exercise equipment do not use them.
95% of weight loss attempts fail long-term.
44% of those who enroll in a 4 yr college never earn a bachelor’s degree.
40 to 50 % of marriages will end in divorce if current trends continue.

These statistics don’t influence everyone not to get married, pursue a bachelor’s degree or get fit. Don’t let statistics and trends stop YOU from making New Year’s Resolutions.

Focus on what you want: the 12% that achieve their goals.

Take note of what Steve Jobs said: Don’t be trapped by dogma: living with the results of other people’s thinking.
