Are You Happy Infographic: Being Happy is Simple

being happy is simple

If you search the world of happiness, you may find it in the end, for the world is round and will lead you back to your door.  ~Robert Brault, www.robertbrault.com

With so much talk about being happy and so much information being offered on how to be happy – why are so many still unhappy?

Could it be that there’s a misunderstanding of what happiness is? When some one says “I’m not happy” what are they really saying? What are they feeling or not feeling at that moment?

If someone is experiencing feelings of jealousy, anger, frustration, rage, lack, self doubt etc., does this mean he/she isn’t happy?

Why do we treat happiness as something so fragile and fleeting?

Maybe, we’re over complicating what it means to be happy. In the age of simplification: minimalism and the like, maybe it’s time to simplify what it means to be happy.

Being happy should be simple

Babies show us the simplicity of happiness

Babies are innately happy. As they grow, they learn from their parents and caregivers that unhappiness exists.

When babies express discomfort, it isn’t a sign of unhappiness. But rather a sign of needing attention: change my diaper, feed me, hold me, love me or something else.

Adults complicate being happy

When an adult feels jealousy, anger, frustration or any other negative emotion, associating these emotions to being unhappy may not be a good thing. It means you’re defining whether or not you’re happy by a moment in time. Then it feeds on itself … you think you’re unhappy, you become unhappy and your unhappiness deepens as you focus on being unhappy.YIKES!

Most people would rather be certain they’re miserable, than risk being happy. ~Robert Anthony

You can resolve many of life’s issues without affecting your core happiness

Just because you have a pebble in your shoe doesn’t mean your shoe doesn’t fit or you don’t know how to walk. ~Adalia

Stop labeling all of your negative emotions as unhappiness. Focus instead on the specific reason why you’re feeling the way you are. You’ll resolve your issue more quickly. And if you allow it, you’ll go from: frustration to resolution, anger to peace, jealousy to confidence etc.

Resolve to be happy 🙂

Don’t focus on why you’re unhappy, look for reasons to be happy. Better yet, don’t look for reasons to be happy. Just be happy. When you think it and say it enough times; it will become your core foundation.

If you want to be happy, be. ~Leo Tolstoy

Here’s a really cool  ‘Are You Happy’ infographic by Barbarian Group co-founder Rick Webb, it  shows  how to be happy and stay happy with a very simple formula.

I like it!  Let me know what you think.
