Each of us have the same twenty four hours in a day but it is amazing what some of us accomplish while others complain that they never have enough time. Our EXTRAordinary woman of the week, Janine Cortina Angeles, finds time for her family, friends and a demanding job as a police officer.
Here’s what her sister Rae Cortina has to say:
Janine Cortina Angeles is an exceptional full time mom, full time police officer, wife of a police officer, and head of a family of five, including a preteen baby, a teen girl and a child with special needs. She accepts each role with tireless enthusiasm, always more concerned with everyone she is serving than herself.
With their dual police roles, their work hours and days constantly change. She manages the time and support to get the kids dressed, fed and off to school, while spending time with their new baby girl. All this before she goes to work. On a regular basis, she drives 70-80 miles (each way) to place her baby with her grandparents for the day while she works. At work, she is a lead officer at the L.A.P.D.’s Devonshire Station, charged with community problem solving and on a daily basis, working on issues and complaints. The citizens love her because of her soft caring interaction and genuine concern for people who need help.
Janine’s extended family, including her parents, sisters and brothers, enjoy every minute of her visits because of the happiness, joy and spirit she represents. Janine loves to cook, play the guitar and sing, and does so with her family and friends. All this while always focusing on how she can make all our lives richer.
