Here’s a popular YouTube video that was dissected Derek Sivers , entrepreneur, programmer and avid student of life. He used the dancing and the dancers to show why the role of a follower is more important than a leader.
Hmm … that’s deep!
One statement he made, in the 3 minute speech he gave at Ted Conference, stands out above the rest:
Leadership is over-glorified.
This is a bold statement

I love this video! Thanks for posting it.
Derek has a very valid point, you can’t lead if you have no followers and it the first follower that counts. Have a strong first follower who’s not afraid to be as nutty as you and you’re all set to go 🙂
Hello Jan,
Thanks for stopping . Yes, that first follower is so important because without a follower(s) you’re not a leader. I don’t know if I would go as far as to say that being a leader is over-glorified but I guess he wanted to add a touch of drama to get his point across that ‘without the follower, there’s no leader.’ Point well taken. He’s a passionate and captivating speaker.
