Take care in your minutes, and the hours will take care of
themselves. – by Chesterfield, Lord.
Time has been accepted as the ultimate dictator in our lives. Therefore, until we create a new reality, your success depends on how well you manage your 24 hours. Resist this and you’ll probably end up homeless and financially challenged without family and friends.
I had the pleasure of helping my granddaughter with her homework on Sunday. She was studying to give a speech – a poem about “time management.” I was captivated by words.
The Poem
Take Care of the Minutes by Cpl. J. Henderson
We are but minutes little things
Each one furnished with sixty wings
With which we fly on our unseen track
And not a minute ever comes back
We are but minutes yet each one bears
A little burden of youth and cares
Patiently take the minutes of pain
The worst of minutes cannot remain.
We are but minutes, when we bring
A few of the drops from pleasures Spring
Taste the sweetness while we stay
It takes but a minute to fly away.
We are but minutes, use us well
Acknowledgement. I would like to acknowledge those who believe that time is an illusion. There are thought leaders and scientists who support this belief and others who romanticize the idea that we would be happier if time was not part of everyday living.
Time is an illusion. ~ Albert Einstein
When we are doing what we love, we don’t care about time. For at least at that moment, time doesn’t exist and we are truly free. ~ Marcia Weider
Time doesn’t exists. clocks exists. ~ Unknown
Is time an illusion? This thought provoking question- from my non-scientific point of view – will be explored in another blog post.
It’s a wrap
In this physical world, time management is important for your success. You can’t save time and use it another day. You can’t borrow time from someone else. You don’t get more time if you’re good and you don’t get less if you’re bad. We all have 24 hours in a day. No more, no less. Use it wisely.
Your turn

Hi Adalia,
I’ve never read of this poem before. It is very short but it actually says it all. We should make the most of our lives since we can never go back to the times that we have wasted.
Yes, it’s a thought stimulating poem and it came to me through my 9 year old granddaughter. How cool is that? Even if someone believes time is an illusion, to ignore that we live in a world where our lives are dictated by time from the moment we awaken until we go to bed, from the day we’re born until we die, can only create chaos in ones life.
