Today I’m going to focus on #4 create a daily habit

Habits are routines of behavior that are repeated regularly and tend to occur subconsciously ~  Wikipedia

Habits are one of the topics I discuss frequently with my clients.

We are what we repeatedly do. Excellence, then, is not an act, but a habit.” Aristotle

My clients’ successes or failures, in every area of their lives, was due to their habits that were embedded in their subconscious mind.

Habits are one of the topics I discussed with my children when they were growing up. Especially, when they grumbled about washing the dishes or doing other chores. My favorite mantra to them:

what you do in one area of your life, you’ll do in all area of your life.

Doing the chores helped them to develop good habits: being responsible, disciplined, focused, patient, and other life skills that would help them to be successful adults.

How to create a daily habit

When I studied hypnosis, 20+ years ago,  I  learned this theory: to form a   habit,  dedicate at least 15 minutes each day to the emerging habit and do it for 21 consecutive days.  In general, that is how long it takes your subconscious mind to accept your new habit. For some it will happen sooner and for others later. I will discuss the reasons why in another post.

To accelerate your success in forming this habit: use all of your senses to connect with the habit.

In relationship to the blogging challenge:

Visualize the completion of the challenge.

Feel the excitement of the completion.

Hear the congratulations from your family/friends.

Some people can taste and smell success.  Can you?

Summary for any habit

Choose the the habit you want to create.

Dedicate 15 minutes each day to this habit.

Do it for 21 consecutive days.

If you break the flow, start over from day one.

Use all of your senses to connect to the habit.

Depending on the habit – Keep as many things the same as possible:  time, location, material, etc.
